Crispy Stove Top Stuffing

This recipe will give you the secret to achieving crispy stove top stuffing every time. By toasting the stuffing mix in the oven before adding the liquid, you'll end up with a crunchy and flavorful stuffing that's sure to impress your guests.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 box of Stove Top Stuffing Mix
  • 1 and 1/2 cups of hot water
  • 1/4 cup of melted butter or margarine

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Pour the contents of the stuffing mix into a large mixing bowl.
  • Add the melted butter or margarine to the dry stuffing mix and stir until the stuffing is evenly coated.
  • Spread the mixture out in a thin, even layer on the baking sheet.
  • Bake the stuffing in the oven for 10-15 minutes, or until it's golden brown and crispy. Be sure to stir the stuffing every 5 minutes to ensure even browning.
  • While the stuffing is toasting, heat up 1 and 1/2 cups of water in a saucepan until it's hot but not boiling.
  • Once the stuffing is crispy, remove it from the oven and transfer it back into the mixing bowl.
  • Slowly pour the hot water over the stuffing, stirring gently until all of the stuffing is moistened.
  • Cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap and let it sit for 5-10 minutes to allow the stuffing to absorb the liquid.
  • Fluff the stuffing with a fork and serve immediately.

Notes

  • To make this recipe vegetarian or vegan, simply use a plant-based butter or margarine.
  • For an extra crunch, try adding some chopped nuts or crispy bacon bits to the stuffing before baking.
  • This recipe is a great base for adding your own mix-ins, such as sautéed onions, celery, or mushrooms.
