Fresh Strawberry Ice Cream

This refreshing and fruity strawberry ice cream is perfect for warm, sunny days and features the natural sweetness of ripe strawberries.

Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries hulled and halved
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • In a blender or food processor, combine the strawberries and sugar. Blend until smooth.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the strawberry mixture, heavy cream, whole milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir until well combined.
  • Cover and chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
  • Pour the chilled mixture into the pre-frozen bowl of your Cuisinart ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually for 20-30 minutes.
  • Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 2 hours, or until firm.

Notes

You can substitute other berries, like raspberries or blueberries, for a different fruity flavor.
For an extra burst of flavor, consider adding a splash of lemon juice to the mixture before chilling.
