Using a fork or potato masher, gently mash the avocado to your desired consistency.

Add the freshly squeezed lime juice to the avocado mixture and stir until combined.
Add the finely chopped red onion and diced tomato to the avocado mixture. Mix well.
Taste the guacamole and season with salt and pepper to your liking.
Transfer the guacamole to a serving bowl and garnish with additional chopped tomato or fresh cilantro if desired.
Serve with tortilla chips or use as a topping for tacos, burritos, or sandwiches.
Choose ripe avocados that are slightly soft to the touch but not overly mushy or brown. Customize the recipe by adding ingredients like jalapenos or substituting the red onion with green onions or shallots. Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor. Guacamole is best served immediately, but you can store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to one day. Use sturdy tortilla chips to prevent breaking when scooping up the guacamole. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the guacamole and cover it tightly with plastic wrap to prevent browning.
