Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup raw cashews
  • 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons tapioca starch
  • 1 teaspoon agar agar powder
  • 2 cups water

Instructions
 

  • Soak the cashews in water for at least 2 hours or overnight. Drain and rinse.
  • In a high-speed blender, combine the cashews, nutritional yeast, lemon juice, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, tapioca starch, and 1 cup of water. Blend until smooth.
  • In a saucepan, bring the remaining 1 cup of water to a boil. Add the agar agar powder and stir until it dissolves.
  • Add the cashew mixture to the saucepan and whisk until well combined.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, for 5-7 minutes, or until the mixture thickens and becomes stretchy.
  • Pour the mixture into a cheesecloth-lined container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until firm.
  • Once firm, remove from the container and slice or shred as desired.
